A quick and easy low-carb side dish featuring perfectly crispy Brussels sprouts sautéed in bacon fat and finished with a touch of balsamic glaze.
Ingredients
1lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
4slices 4–6 thick-cut bacon, diced
1tbsp olive oil (if needed)
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 Optional: tbsp balsamic glaze (sugar-free)
Instructions
1
Cook Bacon: In a large skillet or frying pan, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until it is thoroughly crispy.
2
Remove the cooked bacon using a slotted spoon and set it aside on a paper towel-lined plate. Leave the rendered bacon fat in the pan.
3
Sauté Brussels Sprouts: Add the trimmed and halved Brussels sprouts to the skillet. If there isn't at least 2 tablespoons of bacon fat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté over medium-high heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the Brussels sprouts are tender-crisp and nicely browned.
4
Season & Combine: Season the Brussels sprouts with salt and black pepper to taste.
5
Stir in the cooked crispy bacon. If desired, drizzle with 1 tablespoon of sugar-free balsamic glaze just before serving. Serve hot.
